AI for insurance brokers: less retyping, more advice
Brokers earn their fee on advice and relationships, then lose hours to comparing quotes, chasing renewals and documenting what the law requires. I automate that admin on the systems you already use.
The admin around the advice
- Quote comparisons. Offers arrive from several insurers in different formats, and someone rebuilds them into one comparison.
- Renewals. Tracking expiry dates across a book of clients, preparing renewal reviews and chasing documents.
- Required client information. Under the Insurance Supervision Act, intermediaries must give clients prescribed information before a contract is concluded, and unbound intermediaries must disclose their compensation. [FINMA]
- Claims intake. Notifications by email and phone, forwarded to insurers with the right documents attached.
- Client email and policy questions that need an answer from the file.
- Training records for the continuing education registered intermediaries must keep up. [FINMA]
Workflows that suit a brokerage
- Quote extraction and comparison. Key terms, premiums, deductibles and exclusions are pulled from insurers' offers into your comparison template, with every figure traceable to the source document for a broker to check.
- Renewal pipeline. Upcoming renewals listed in good time, review letters drafted from the policy data, and reminders until the file is complete.
- Information-duty pack. The documents you must hand over before conclusion are assembled from your approved templates and the client file, so nothing is forgotten and every handover is recorded.
- Claims intake. Notifications are read, the claim details captured, missing documents requested and a forwarding email to the insurer drafted for review.
- Client email triage with draft replies from the policy file for a broker to approve. How AI email triage works.
- Training log reminders so continuing-education records stay current.
Client data, health data and the nFADP
Brokers hold personal, financial and, in some lines, health data, which Swiss law treats as particularly sensitive. The Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner has confirmed that the revised Federal Act on Data Protection applies directly to AI. [FDPIC] Any AI service that processes client data is a processor, allowed by contract only and once you have satisfied yourself it can guarantee data security. [Art. 9 FADP]
FINMA also expects intermediaries to have internal rules and an appropriate organisation to comply with the supervisory law. [FINMA] A documented AI workflow with a human check is easier to explain than staff using whatever tool they like.
So each workflow uses one business AI service under contract, sends only the data each step needs, keeps health-related documents out of any step that does not need them, and leaves the advice and the recommendation with a broker.

Insurance is where I spent a large part of my career: I was Head of Corporate Centre IT, and for a period Head of Applications, at Zurich Insurance. Insurance processes are familiar territory.
Most firms start with the AI Opportunity Audit (CHF 750 to 1,500, one to two weeks). A first automated workflow starts from CHF 1,500 and a custom tool from CHF 5,000. Every price is fixed before work starts. See pricing.

Common questions
How can AI help an insurance broker in Switzerland?
Mostly with admin: extracting terms from insurers' offers into a comparison, tracking renewals, assembling the information clients must receive before conclusion, capturing claims and drafting routine client replies. The advice stays with the broker.
Can AI make product recommendations to our clients?
I do not build workflows that recommend products to clients without a broker. AI prepares the comparison; the broker advises and decides.
Do you work with our broker software?
Where it can exchange data through an interface or exports, workflows connect to it. Otherwise they work on email and documents. The audit establishes which.
How is health data handled?
It is kept out of any step that does not need it, processed only in a business service under contract, and visible only to the people handling that client.
