AI Opportunity Audit: know what to automate before you spend
A fixed-price review of how your firm actually runs. You get a clear, written map of where AI can save the most time, which two or three workflows to start with, and what should not be automated at all.
Most AI projects fail at the choosing stage
The expensive mistake in a small firm is not picking the wrong tool. It is automating the wrong thing: a process nobody follows the same way twice, or a task that only takes an hour a month. The audit exists to stop that happening.
I look at where time actually goes, not where people think it goes, and rank the opportunities by return and risk. You decide what to do next with the facts in front of you, and you are under no obligation to build anything with me afterwards.
What the audit delivers
- A written AI opportunity map of the repetitive work in your firm that AI can realistically handle.
- The two or three workflows worth automating first, with the reasoning and the expected return for each.
- What should not be automated, and why. Some work is better left with people.
- Quick wins you can act on straight away, often with tools you already pay for.
- Data protection and confidentiality notes for each opportunity, so you know what a safe setup looks like before anything is built.
- A fixed quote for building the first workflow, if you want me to build it.
One to two weeks, start to finish
- Discovery call. We agree the scope and who I should speak to.
- Short conversations with the people doing the work. Usually the partners or owners and the people who handle admin, email and documents day to day.
- A look at the tools and data you use. Email, Microsoft 365, spreadsheets, your practice or client system, and how information moves between them.
- The opportunity map. Delivered in writing and walked through with you on a call.
The price depends on the size of the firm and the number of teams involved, and is agreed before we start. See all prices on the pricing page.
Where opportunities usually sit in professional services
Every firm is different, which is the point of the audit. In firms that live in email, documents and spreadsheets, the work worth examining usually includes:
- Client enquiries and email replies, and triage of a shared inbox
- Document intake: extracting data from PDFs, forms, invoices and contracts
- Quotes, engagement letters, proposals and follow-ups
- Internal knowledge: finding the right template, precedent, policy or answer
- Recurring reports and repetitive spreadsheet work
- Task routing and reminders so nothing waits in someone's inbox

Common questions
How much does the AI Opportunity Audit cost?
CHF 750 to 1,500, fixed and agreed before we start. The price depends on the size of the firm and how many teams are involved.
How long does it take?
One to two weeks from the discovery call to the written opportunity map.
Do I have to use PMBRTN to build what the audit recommends?
No. The opportunity map is yours. If you want me to build the first workflow, I will quote it at a fixed price; if you would rather use someone else or do it in-house, the map still stands.
What do you need from us?
A discovery call, short conversations with the people who do the work, and a look at the tools you use. I keep the time asked of your team to a minimum.
Will you need access to client data?
The audit is about how work flows, not about reading client files. Where examples help, we agree what I see and how before I see it.
